Blackjack Helmet Flashlight Holders
I have acquired several Blackjack Flashlight Holders over the years. Blackjack just rolled out two brand new products and got them to me quick for a first look at what the company has been up to. Blackjack specializes in helmet mounted flashlight holders. The Blackjack flashlight holders also work perfectly for helmet cameras like the Fire Cam (FireVideo.net).
Currently, I have a Blackjack holder on my helmet for use with my Fire Cam Mini HD camera. On our engine, I have utilized the equipment mount on our K saw to mount a Surefire flashlight.
Surefire sent the G2X Fire Rescue Helmet Mount Kit for use with my review. This is a small, durable, and bright light. The G2X is a single-output LED flashlight with 200 maximum Lumen output and 2.5 hours of useful runtime. The G2X weights 4.4 ounces and is 5.2 inches long. It is easily turned on by tailcap click switch and is offered in a tough, lightweight Nitrolon body with a deep grid pattern for a secure grip.
Their newest mount (model BJ005) is their newest mount and features the ability for the flashlight to easily be removed from the mount with a gloved hand to use it handheld. This is also a nice feature for those who worry about the tangle possibilities of having something mounted on their helmets.
Below I will go over each of Blackjacks products that I have, the specifications of each, and my thoughts on them.
Blackjack Model BJ005
The BJ005 is the newest member of the Blackjack family. The BJ005 is designed to allow the user to remove a light, use it in hand and reattach it easily to the helmet with a gloved hand during fire ground operations, no tools necessary! The BJ005 still incorporates our PATENTED under the brim, multiple points of contact, line of sight design found in our other Blackjacks. This model is made from our proprietary high temperature thermoplastic and is adjustable and works with most round lights from 2AA, to tactical including RECHARGEABLES! The new BJ005 is the result of years of testing, and listening to our customers.
The Model BJ005 is very similar to the previous holders offered by Blackjack with two distinct innovations that I think firefighters will like. First of all, the holder offers the ability to remove and replace the flashlight easily with a gloved hand and without needing a tool (Allen wrench) to do it. Secondly, the openness of the holder offers the ability for the flashlight to simply pop out if firefighters get entangled. Previous versions are closed and the flashlight is held in place by tightening an Allen wrench screw. – The Fire Critic
Blackjack Equipment Mount
The Equipment Mount is designed to attach a light to any extrication, or cutting tool. The EM001 attaches to the cross bar and will allow for complete adjustability even with a gloved hand. The EM001 comes with a quick release lever attachment so it can easily be switched from tool to tool in minimal time without the need for a wrench. The light can be pointed as needed when you use the tool, no more having to guess what your needs will be before you use it. Designed to accommodate the tactical style lights from Surefire, Pelican, Streamlight and any round light with a 1″-1 ⅛” diameter.
I took the equipment mount direcly out to the engine and attached it to our K saw. I am sure that other firefighters will find many uses for this holder. The holder easily mounted on the K saw and I attached a Surefire G2X light to it. While this may not be a necessity, I now don’t have to worry about forgetting a flashlight if I am cutting on the roof etc. I can’t wait to see how other firefighters utilize this new holder. – The Fire Critic
The Blackjack helmet flashlight holder is designed to hold the light under the brim of the helmet, parallel to the line of sight of the user. Our PATENTED design incorporates multiple points of contact between the light and the helmet, this feature combined with the under the brim design helps to virtually eliminate entanglement. The Blackjack has four models that accommodate the majority of lights and cameras used it the fire service today, including 2AA, 4AA, and Tactical style with lithium batteries lights. The Blackjack is made from 6061 aluminum and has an UNCONDITIONAL LIFETIME WARRANTY.
Blackjack holders are lightweight and durable. I don’t know of any other holders out there that match up to the quality in craftsmanship and design. – The Fire Critic
Blackjack Global Mount
The Global Mount is a helmet light attachment system that is designed to accommodate virtually any helmet, and can be used with three different size lights; 4AA, 2AA, and Tactical style with lithium batteries. The Global Mount is designed to allow the user to remove the light, use it as a handheld light, and return it to the helmet, where the patent pending design will automatically return it to the originally set position without having to remove the helmet in dark, or hazardous environments.
I haven’t used the global mount, but I understand that is will fit virtually any helmet. This model also enables you to remove the flashlight and hold it by hand. – The Fire Critic
Blackjack Camera Mount
The Blackjack Camera mount brings the same patented under the brim, multi-point contact mounting design to camera mounts. The Blackjack camera mount was designed after careful collaboration with FireCam, and works with FireCam Mini HD, and 1080 models.
I currently have the camera mount on my helmet. It is holding a Fire Cam Mini HD firmly in place. The camera mount is sleak in design and about as low profile as you could get for a camera holder. – The Fire Critic
Blackjack Double Down Mount
The Double Down is designed to secure both head lamp, and goggle straps to wild land firefighter helmets. The Double Down is a set of four high temperature composite clips that utilize a 3M adhesive and will attach to any wild land helmet. The Double Down keeps your headlamp and goggles where you put them, so they are there when you need them.
